 DUSLEYsS FAMILY: They contributed to the misurable upbringing of Harry. They were very cruel to Harry and even hided to him that is a wizzard.

PROFESSOR McGONAGALL: She is the Transfiguration professor and head the Gryfindor House. She also possess the ability to turn herself into a tubby cat. she was also with Professor Dumbledore leaves Harry on the Dursle's doorstep, and also opposes the decision to leave Harry with this cruel and unpleasant family.

WHAT ARE THE MAIN CHARACTERS OF THE STORY?  
 Hi ladies i think that these are the main characters, i am not sure what do u think.

• HARRY POTTER:  he is the main character of the story and the other characters are introduced through him. he is a boy who did not know how his parents died and he lived with his sister's mother who treated him badly. they did not value anything he did. but on the other side of the world which is the wizard world he is famous. from a boy he had nothing and was not valued in the muggle world everything turned around. in the wizard world he was the most important person.

• HERMIONE GRANGER: She is Harry and Ron's best friend at Hogwarts.She is one of the brightest witches in her year , particularly because of her unfailing work ethic and determination to succeed and because of her insecurity over her background. I think her purpose in the story is to keep Harry and Ron on track of their school work and make sure that they study and pass their first year.

• RON WESLEY: He is Harry's best friend. His purpose is to prove himself to be a loyal friend to both Harry and Hermione and a brilliant player of wizarding chess. Although Ron  acknowledges the difficulties of being the youngest son of a poor wizarding family he rarely expresses any resentment to his family and desires only to become individually successful.  

• PROFESSOR DUMBLEDORE:  he is the head master and Voldemort's enemy. he is a distant figure to harry for much of his first year, but he does give him his father's invisibility cloak for Christmas. Although Professor Dumbledore remained a mysterious figure for this book and the majority of the series , it is clear that he  has a deep  affection for harry and wishes to protect him at all cost.

• VOLDEMORT: -I think he is also one of the main character because he is the one who made Harry famous. although he is not to be mentioned i think he is  the one who gave harry the head start of his successful life although he did it in a bad way.

• HADRID: he is the gamekeeper for Hogwarts and he is the first person to introduce Harry to the wizarding world. he becomes close with Harry, Ron and Hermione and remains loyal to them as friends.

• DRACO MALFOY: He attempts to become friends with Harry but upon Harry's rebuff, the offended Draco becomes his firm enemy and wastes no opportunity to mock Harry or his friends  and he is also professor Snape' s favourite.

GCINA MHLOPE BLESSED US WITH HER PRESENCE

 

Zethu: This was one of the most amazing days of my life. Having a lady that has told African stories in a way that made me imagine myself being in that story is awesome. I still remember those days when I was only six years old and story time on SABC with Gcina Mhlope was a wonderful experience. She made the story alive by changing her voice to describe each character, acting out the story to show exactly what happened and of cause she sang in her stories. All her songs were so relavant to the story it made it even more fun to listen.

As a child I used to sit, glued to the Television, wishing that I was also one of those children who sat around her, listening to her tell the story right next to her. This is when I asked my older brother "how do you get inside the television"? He told me that I only had to open the back of the TV, squeeze myself to fit in and I would be there. Everyday I used to dream of opening the TV and getting in, just to sit next to her when she is telling stories.

Gcina Mhlope's visit to the University of Johannesburg made all these emotions come alive in me all over again. What else did you guys learn?

sthembile: my experience in my Maponya was a memory in making, the children were so excited, with warm and love that they showed to me. and the book that I read to the them was The Wheels on The Bus, even after I read the book the children called other children to come and listen to me read the book again to all of them. and that to me its showed that reading is fun.
